Application Note: APSUNY Low-Loss Waveguide Components
The
low-loss waveguide is a compound element that was modeled with a 2-port
s-parameter matrix. It is not a uniform waveguide so there is no
"refractive index" for this component. The reflection is
governed by the S11 of the s-parameter matrix and the phase accumulation
is governed by S21 (S12), which does not scale linearly for 0.5mm, 1mm,
and 2mm devices.

Waveguide Loss
As published in the PDK documentation, 480nm wide silicon (SE) waveguides have a propagation loss of <2.5dB/cm around 1550nm. As expected, larger waveguides (500 or 550nm) will have lower losses and smaller (450 or 400nm) will have higher losses. ...
Application Note: APSUNY Microdisk Modulator Heater
The heater resistance of two active components is updated based on the latest verification results. They are C+L Band Microdisk Modulator (channel 0-3) and O Band Microdisk Modulator. The current resistance is 6 kW rather than 2 kW in the previous ...

Many of the technical details about the MPW technology are available in the PDK's design guide. Below are the most commonly requested details but please reference the design guide in the PDK for the most up to date information. As a reminder, the ...
Dummy Fill, Cheese, Block Fill and Block Cheese
Dummy fill and cheese are data prep techniques used by a foundry to help normalize the density of structures across the wafer for topography control. The designer does not need to do anything for these structures but should be aware. The descriptions ...
