Customization / Process Changes
As a general rule, the process flow on multi-project wafer runs is not customizable. The size, shape, and interaction of different design layers are typically the only things that the rider can control. However, based on feedback from customers AIM Photonics is happy to announce the availability of "bite-sized customizations" (BSCs). These small, pre-defined, changes to the process flow are available to MPW riders for an additional fee. A table of example BSCs is available on the
AIM Photonics website. It should be noted this list is not exhaustive, so if a customer is interested in a customization that is not listed here, or in multiple customizations, please contact
info@aimphotonics.com.
Further, the 300mm silicon photonics fab team behind the AIM Photonics MPW service is also able to do private or full custom runs if BSC doesn't provide the solutions needed. To start those conversations please contact
info@aimphotonics.com.

Waveguide Loss
As published in the PDK documentation, 480nm wide silicon (SE) waveguides have a propagation loss of <2.5dB/cm around 1550nm. As expected, larger waveguides (500 or 550nm) will have lower losses and smaller (450 or 400nm) will have higher losses. ...
Dummy Fill, Cheese, Block Fill and Block Cheese
Dummy fill and cheese are data prep techniques used by a foundry to help normalize the density of structures across the wafer for topography control. The designer does not need to do anything for these structures but should be aware. The descriptions ...
